Here at A Pocketful of Books they can be part of a community who share their thoughts and their love of reading.
And who are we? A Pocketful of Books is a small family run initiative, and our unique book boxes are lovingly curated by educational professionals who are experienced in working with young children, and who also happen to be parents!
There are so many amazing children’s books to choose from. If kids review books that they have read for their peers then it helps them to choose the right book for them. We believe that reading for pleasure helps children to reach their unique full potential. Research repeatedly shows that that children who enjoy reading have a much easier time understanding and learning other academic subjects. A Pocketful of Books is designed to help kids discover the best books for them, to nurture a sense of enquiry, and to share what they learn with others.
Talking to children about what they read and what they think about it is also crucial. Again, research tells us that children who write about what they read tend to become better writers and readers. Their comprehension goes up, and that skill will be applied to all academic subjects. Throughout civilization, reflection has been the foundation for further progress. The important process of reflection defines how to move on, and how to learn from what has been created. This is a vital process that underpins the learning. That’s why our each box in our kids book subscription comes with a magazine packed with tailor-made activities and fascinating facts, all designed to get kids thinking and writing about the book they have just read.
